You'll find all the answers to getting ISO 9001 certification for your organisation here.

We've used our experience of providing certification for thousands of companies to answer the most common questions below. But if you have any other queries, request a no-obligation quote and one of our experts will answer all of your questions and more.

How do I get ISO 9001 certification?

Starting the process of getting ISO 9001 is as easy as contacting a certification body - such as ourselves! Contact us today for a quote (with no hidden costs).

We'll also supply you with an interactive, online platform (BAB Activ) that will make it easier for you to put together the documented evidence of your Quality Management System (QMS). Once this evidence is in place, the audit has been completed and your report produced, one of our experienced Auditors will decide whether to recommend you for ISO 9001 certification, based on the objective evidence gained throughout the assessment.

What do I need to do to be awarded ISO 9001?

You'll need to demonstrate documented evidence of your Quality Management System (QMS), a set of processes and procedures that ensure your organisation provides products or services that meet the appropriate quality standards.

You probably already have a number of these processes and procedures in place. We'll identify any that are missing, and which documents need putting in place or updating to meet the ISO 9001 standard. Our interactive, online platform provides generic templates to assist you with this.

What is the process for getting ISO 9001 certification?

There are four steps to the ISO 9001 certification process.

  • Preparation

The first step is to get in touch with us for a no-obligation quote. If you like the quote, all you need to do is accept the terms and decide how you want to pay. Once the first payment is received you will be given access to our range of online tools and resources to help you prepare for the Stage 1 assessment.

  • Stage 1 assessment

There’s no pressure for the first assessment; your Auditor will simply be determining what you already have in place. They'll give you a report filled with recommendations as to the next steps you need to take to achieve your certification.

  • Stage 2 assessment

When you’re ready, your Auditor will visit again to establish if your management systems and processes meet the requirements of the standard.

  • Awarded with ISO 9001

You'll be advised of the Auditor's recommendations on the day which will be ratified by our Compliance department, and your certification will be issued following the decision.

How long does it take to get ISO 9001 certification?

How long it takes to achieve ISO 9001 depends on many factors. The process can take just a matter of weeks for some, and some months for others; it all depends on the organisation, how prepared they are, and how much time they can put into the process.

If you have a designated representative who takes responsibility for your certification within your organisation, this can help the certification process. And it will take less time to achieve your certification if you’ve made preparations in advance!

Do I need an ISO 9001 consultant?

It isn’t necessary to hire a consultant. Our expert auditors will help you to identify any areas in your Quality Management System that might need improvement before your final assessment. We’ll also support you by giving you access to our online, interactive platform that provides generic templates to help you set up the processes needed for ISO 9001. Should you find that you need additional support by way of consultancy we can also provide you with a list of consultants we recommend to help you complete the work (while we can provide a range of tools, templates and guidance we are required by UKAS rules not to provide the consultancy ourselves).
